Situated in the thriving market town of Newark-on-Trent, is a delightfully unique restaurant in an enviable location; right next to the Castle and on the banks of the River Trent. Located on Castle Gate, Café Bleu offers diners and drinkers ample parking and some of the best views in town.
The restaurant itself has a light and airy bistro-feel about it. The décor is used cleverly to create a comfortable space which is accentuated by a number of vibrant canvases by celebrated artist Nikki McKay adorning the wall. To the rear of the restaurant is a large and well-kept walled garden which is ideal for a little al fresco dining when the weather is pleasant.
The menu on offer at Café Bleu features a great selection of modern European dishes that follow the seasons in order to make the most of the fine, locally-available produce. During the warmer summer months you can expect to enjoy dishes such as potted Cornish crab and shrimps with chilled gazpacho; roast rump of Derbyshire lamb with braised puy lentils, pancetta and roast celeriac chips; and open lasagne of wild mushrooms with roast squash and a truffle dressing.
The desserts menu which features the devilishly indulgent warm chocolate pudding with caramelised orange ice cream. During the day, Café Bleu also offers a good selection of simple yet delicious dishes that are perfect for livening up lunch times.
